“Drag ON!”, the 9-hour drag show from Pride Toronto 2015, is coming soon!  On Saturday, June 27, from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Yonge-Dundas Square will be invaded by drag queens and a massive audience.  In preparation for this event, I caught up with one of Toronto’s fixtures in the drag community, formerly of The Freaks, the entirely individual Sylvia.

What is your best/favourite Pride memory?

Years ago, when I was asked to join the Pride Committee to program the stages. Yhe people I work with really are amazing, and I’m VERY proud to be a part of it!

Who is your idol or inspiration, and why?

Everyone inspires me. I take memories I have from being part of “The Freaks”, to seeing the latest performers just beginning their careers as inspiration…inspiration is everywhere.

What is your best/favourite experience as a performer, to date?

My favorite experience on stage is whenever I make people laugh…always has been.

Where do you hope your proficiency as a performer will take you in the future?

I hope to keep making them laugh…or at least smile!

What year and song are you representing on stage at Yonge-Dundas Square for the Drag ON! event?

I’m doing…not “as” her… Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors”

Sylvia will freak you at with her performance of “True Colours” on Saturday, June 27 between 2:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. at Yonge-Dundas Square during Drag ON!.
