The Yonge -Dundas Square Stage is the showdown for Pride Toronto‘s upcoming 35th Anniversary drag spectacle “Drag On!”. Featuring 35 performers and 35 years of music, the event will be hosted by RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Bianca Del Rio.

We had a chat with triple threat drag sensation Xtacy Love who’s participating in the upcoming non-stop all-day epic drag event that will be held Saturday June 27th between 2:00 PM -11:00 PM.

Miss Love stormed onto the scene with majestic and solid costumes, creativity, and class, and has been a fixture and crowd favourite ever since. The winner of 2013’s “Next Drag Superstar”, she continued on with her winning streak to score the title of Miss Crews and Tango’s 2014 and is bringing her special touch to this sensational event.

What does Pride mean to you?

Pride to me means being able to walk around my home with the support of my family. Being able to be open and honest about my true authentic self outside of my home with my family and friends. It also means remembering the brave pioneers before us that fought relentlessly so that we can be where we are today as a community and taking that past and standing strong as we face the future.

What are you looking forward to most this Pride?

I am most looking forward to meeting as many people as I can during Pride this year. Pride brings so many different stories to one place to celebrate together. It’s truly beautiful!

What have been your highlights as a performer so far?

The highlight of my career isn’t what I thought it may be. I’ve been very blessed and am so incredibly grateful. Last year I got to perform between Deborah Cox and Jully Black at WorldPride. I was Miss Crews and Tangos during WorldPride. I’ve shot music videos, been in magazines, and I’ve been so blessed to learn and share the stage with insanely talented performers that I am lucky to call sisters after just a few years of being in the art of drag but the best moments are shared with the fans. I have a great relationship with my #Lovers and wouldn’t trade them or their stories for anyone else. To the one #Lover in particular that had been hospitalized and got through it and came to me, thank you for sharing your story. Thank you for your continued support always, truly! XoXoXo Happy Pride #Lovers

What is your favourite song to perform?

My favourite song to perform to…are you kidding?!?!? Music moves me and the energy from the crowd dictates what I do. I don’t have a specific favourite. I just live while on the stage. Give me a ballad, show tune, or pop anthem and I’m happy.

Who’s your drag idol?

My drag idol is probably a mix of Sasha Colby, Farah N Hyte and Alyssa Edwards….oh and Britney Spears. She has been holding down the lip sync battlefield since ‘Baby One More Time’.

What year and song are you representing at Yonge-Dundas Square for the Drag On event?

Ahhhh I don’t remember the year! Legit, I was too young BUT I was chosen to represent Paula Abdul’s ‘Straight Up‘. I’m getting ready to dance the stage down just like Paula!

Xtacy Love will be getting down like it’s 1989 at Yonge- Dundas Square’s Drag On! Stay tuned as we feature more great and glamorous performers here at theBuzz with our count down to Pride!
