As the drag spectacular that will be “Drag ON!” approaches on June 27 at Yonge-Dundas Square from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., I chatted with Ms. Jada Hudson to find out just what goes on behind the make up, to make up one of Toronto’s newer, yet impressive queens.

What is your best/favourite Pride memory?

My favourite pride memory would have to be my first ever Pride here in 2010. Coming from a small island like Barbados, and seeing such a huge festival called Gay Pride where we celebrate who we are as gay people was just mind blowing to me.

Who is your idol or inspiration, and why?

My idol and inspiration is my mom, because she is someone that works hard for what she wants and she gets it done. She is a successful woman and depends on no one.

What is your best/favourite experience as a performer, to date?

Wow, my best, favourite experience as a performer to date is just simply every time I perform for an audience, truthfully.  It doesn’t matter what bar, club or event I am at, once I hit that stage and there’s an audience, and they are loving what I do, that to me is always my best experience.

Where do you hope your proficiency as a performer will take you in the future?

Well, I always say that Jada Hudson is not just a drag performer, she is an entertainer in the whole.  She is a singer, dancer, and actor, who wants to take Jada Hudson further with more stage plays, movies, travelling, merchandising, even a travelling play would be great!  THE LION KING maybe ??? Lol

What year and song are you representing on stage at Yonge-Dundas Square for the Drag ON! event?

I am doing Tina Turner’s 1984 “What’s Love got to Do with it?”

Ms. Hudson will be performing “What’s Love got to do with it?” by Tina Turner at Drag ON! at Yonge-Dundas Square on June 27, between 2:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m, part of Pride Toronto.
