Some of My Most Favourite People are everyone at PFLAG Canada. One of  the most passionate and long standing organizations in our community. Why do I love them so much? Because they advocate for youth and families, and they are on the front lines of activism.

In the past years I have attended all their Gay Day at Canada’s Wonderland, so when I heard about this new event, I got PFLAG Canada’s President Bev Belanger on the phone for a quick chat.

So tell us more about the idea behind this new event? This replaces Wonderland, is that correct?

Yes this does replace our Wonderland event. Each year people looked forward to going to our Wonderland event so it was important to us, to find something else that would be fun to replace it. We thought for the first year we would do something different and what better way to celebrate Pride by having an evening cruise on Lake Ontario looking back at Toronto’s skyline.

Who will be attending this, what kind of vibe should we expect?

This is a 19+ event and expected to be a club vibe.

And what of entertainment should we expect?

There will be a DJ, and of course a drag queen.

I have been on that boat before, the food is good. What’s on the menu?

The menu has yet to be confirmed but as you say the food is good.
Let’s talk about PFLAG, for those who don’t know what you do (I’d be surprised) what kind of services does the organization provide?

PFLAG Canada is a national charitable organization, that provides support to help family members understand and accept their non-heterosexual children. All of our more than 50 Chapters across Canada offer support meetings in a safe and caring environment with a goal of keeping families together.

Why is it important to come and support this event?

By supporting our cruise on Lake Ontario, you are helping us to continue to support the good work and outreach that our Chapters maintain.

Check out Facebook Event Page for more info, and get your tickets to what promises to be a fun community event!
