Some of My Most Favourite People are the friendly and kind team at Fife House, and some of my most favourite events in the community are the ones Fife House puts on, and I have attended many of them over the years. From Broadway to drag, from intimate presentations, to lavish theatrics, Fife House knows how to throw an event.

Last night was no different. Their annual fundraiser “Spotlight” was a smashing success, with a sequel to their very successful 2016 “Shady Queens”. I admit I am not a regular follower of RuPaul’s Drag Race, just the basic knowledge I have as a person in media, and I know only some of the queens, mostly really Bob the Drag Queen and Bianca Del Rio and just because we had them in past editions of theBUZZ (Issue 7 and Issue 12)  , so I thought it would be much more fun to take a big fan along, so I asked my friend Kerolos Saleib (from Arabian Knights LGBTQ)

First we were off to the VIP Reception to enjoy some drinks, some wonderful nibblies (I loved the oysters, Kerolos however is not a fan), and to browse the silent auction. Great vibe and great community people filled the room at Globe Bistro on the Danforth.

Then we made our way to Danforth Music Hall in time for the show. The laughter and applause were a plenty, the audience was in love with the performers, but since my knowledge was limited, I asked Kerolos what his thoughts are (although I have to say I had a great time, this was a great drag show whether you knew the queens or not.)

Kerolos: Ginger Minj as a host didn’t disappoint. She made us laugh, she made us “oooh” and she certainly didn’t hold back on throwing shade. She has always been one of the queens that I enjoyed watching, because she just owns the stage and so loveable at the same time.

The best Act, well that’s very hard to just chose one. Katya slayed with her rendition of my neck, my back, lick my….and my crack. Her Russian version of bad romance still had us dancing and she is so witty and entertaining to watch her have her ADHD episode live. lol

Jinx Monsoon made me laugh so hard. I ADORE HER. She was capable of showing us cute with a touch of savage. her subtle shade was everything. She is one of those queens that you see her and think, oh, she’s ok…then she opens her mouth and puts you in your seat.

Violet Chachki’s burlesque had some gay guys, including myself questioning our sexuality. She was hot and made me feel all kind of weird new feelings that made me want to chug my beer….and I did.

Overall the best act was Jinx Monsoon. She just owned the other half of the show. She has a great singing voice, and she is just so witty.

I can’t wait to see the Threequel next year…

Antoine: I am so thrilled you had such a good time, you certainly did not stop laughing.

Everyone make sure to check out Fife House and support their work if you can, they do great work to help people living with HIV.
