Some of my most favourite people are those who have a lot of talent. In my opinion, multi Juno Awards winner Simone Denny is one of those people.

I love Simone Denny, I have always loved Simone Denny. Back in the days of me shaking my groove thing on the dance floors, and when Simone was with famed group Love Inc., people had to get out of my way when “You’re A Superstar” or “Broken Bones” or “Who Do U Love” started playing, because I would be dancing up a storm. I loved her powerful voice.

Simone, in my humble opinion, is a Canadian national treasure.

In the past few years I got to meet Simone when I interviewed her for the talk show “On the Couch”, and I also got to work with her on some events. No surprise, she turned out to be not only incredibly talented, but a wonderful, kind, gentle person, that I kind of had a feeling she would be. We actually became close friends, and I love her now even more than ever.

I was very excited when I heard she is releasing a Christmas single, combining my love of her voice and my love of the Holidays’ Season, how cool is that?

So come join me as I chat briefly with Simone about (Baby It’s Christmas) Bring It On Home To Me.

Simone, how are you doing, excited for the Holidays Season?

I am super excited for the holidays! Christmas is my most favourite time of year!

So, a Christmas single release, what got you to want to do that?

I have always wanted to release a Christmas single. It was more a task of finding the right song and releasing it at the right time. My manager and I discussing it and we thought about covering a classic Christmas tune or writing an original. Then he suggested I try to put a Christmas spin on the Sam Cooke track. Took me about 15-20 minutes to re work the lyrics. Recorded it and sent it to him and he loved it!

How has the reception been to the song?

Everyone has been extremely receptive! Everyone loves it! It’s a classic and familiar song that is known worldwide. I think we maintained the integrity of the song successfully. The only major change is that a woman is singing it. I am thrilled that people are enjoying it!

You’re off to Europe next for some performances?

Yes! I am headed to the UK for Boxing Day through to New Years for a quick tour! Performing some of the classic Love Inc. tunes. I have so much fun performing there! Great crowd! Beautiful people!

Music is so part of who you are, why do you love it so much?

I love music because it’s a release for me and it helps people. I love to connect with my fans! I love the energy exchange with them whether it’s rock & soul live with my band or doing some of the Love INC & BKS Dance trax. The best part is chatting with them after the shows. I get to hear how the music has healed and uplifted then. I’m all about that!

And what is next after that?

Wow 2018 is looking great! A few projects on deck with modelling and definitely more new music and shows. Looking at starting my book as well. Can’t wait!
