The longest and darkest night of the year is also a time for celebration. Shab-e Chelleh is an Iranian winter solstice festival called Yalda Night, and for the first time Toronto will get a chance to participate in The 519’s first queer Yalda Night on Saturday December 21, 2019.

Hosted by Saeid Gh, this event is open to Iranian queers, trans and their allies who what to party in solidarity and mark this special night with food, poetry readings, and dancing. Saeid Gh is originally from Iran, and arrived in Canada a few months ago with his partner of four years, and has a track record for producing some extraordinary events back home.

Come out and celebrate the longest night of the year and help kick-off what’s hoped to be an annual tradition at The 519.
