The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson (PWYC Pride Screening) at Art Gallery of Ontario, 317 Dundas St. W., Toronto
Academy Award® nominated director David France (How to Survive a Plague) returns to Inside Out with a new documentary about self-described “street queen” Marsha P. Johnson. She was a legendary fixture in New York City’s gay ghetto, who along with fellow trans icon Sylvia Rivera, founded Street Transvestites Action Revolutionaries (S.T.A.R.), a trans activist group based in the heart of NYC’s Greenwich Village. Mysteriously, Marsha was found floating in the Hudson River in 1992. At the time, the NYPD pegged her death as a suicide, a claim that Marsha’s comrades have always firmly rejected. Structured as a whodunit, with activist Victoria Cruz cast as detective and audience surrogate, The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson celebrates the lasting political legacy of Marsha P. Johnson, while seeking to finally solve the mystery of her unexplained death. Toronto Premiere All tickets for this special Pride screening are Pay What You Can. Tickets will only be available at the door starting at 5:30 pm, an hour before the screening begins. The line will begin at 4:30 pm.

For the settlers, these roads led to a new life in what would become Canada. But for the Indigenous people who lived on the land, the construction of these roads marked the beginning of the dismantling of their land and their culture. FREE admission.

Transfeminism: Beyond Bodily Binaries Towards Gender Fluidity at The 519 Community Centre, 519 Church St., Toronto
Pride Human Rights Conference: Transfeminism: Beyond Bodily Binaries Towards Gender Fluidity: Can we apply feminist ideas and ideals to discourse about trans communities? Can we create spaces for trans subjectivity within the feminist movement, beyond gender binaries? And if so, how can we create a theory and practices that are focused on the experiences of trans communities but are relevant to all? This panel will look at some of these questions and more by bringing together key voices to discuss the emergence of transgender visibility, reversing hegemonic concepts of gender and moving towards gender and sexual fluidity.
