Some of my most favourite people are people who like to dance, so when Brian Torner, Director of The Continental Dance Club, asked me to be Master of Ceremonies at an event he was creating for December 1st, I gladly jumped on board.

I got to know Brian through a common friend, and the more I get to know him I discovered someone who’s truly talented and who is very passionate about the art of dancing.

The event is a fundraiser for a cause dear to my heart; raising funds for Toronto People with AIDS Foundation, on the occasion of World AIDS Day. So, not only is this a great event, that promises a very unique and exciting evening, it is also a way to help and support the work of a great community organizations. On top of that, I will be MCing, so come on, seriously how can you miss that? 😉

So, come join me as we chat with Brian and find out why you need to get your ticket right away.

Why did you decide to put this event together?

As director of The Continental Dance Club since 2013, I set out recently to accomplish the task of upgrading the venue my family owns in Mississauga; a multi-genre multiple sensibility dance studio space. Seeing as my parents are retiring, I wanted to bring dancers and the dance curious together, with a big event that would support PWA with a December 1st event, which you Antoine have so graciously agreed to MC.

What should we expect at the event?

OMG be prepared for an “all inclusive” evening starting at 7pm with complimentary welcome cocktail, light dinner buffet, coffee/tea and dessert, some MC and Host antics and intros, followed by Conga for ALL, general dancing to a live DJ, three $250 dollar prize draws toward lessons with me for any wedding or specialty dance, a free dance lesson by me with our special guest artist from Berlin Dirk Heidemann, an art auction with two small works from a Past and a future CONTACT Photography Festival featured Exhibition, a FUN dance contest and several exciting dance Performances including the number three ranked Latin couple in Canada, and a whole lot more.
The event is dressy-casual to informal and is licensed. LOTS OF SURPRISES and a chance to meet some awesome people like YOURSELF. You get a great deal by getting your tickets in advance, and they range between $20 and $40 www.thecontinentaldanceclub.com/store ($50 at door). BUT also, very important to notice the discounts for half and full tables available through payment in advance with myself directly “five for four” and “ten for eight”.

I urge Potential attendees to RSVP thru the Facebook event Page in consideration of my catering arrangements Preferably before November 29 … but no one will be turned away at the door on the day/night of event https://www.facebook.com/events/468740576859986/

Tell us more about The Continental Dance Club?

My vision for the venue is sustain it in its current form. The Continental Dance Club is located in Mississauga. It is a family- owned and operated business since 1992. My parents met dancing over 50 years ago in Hamburg, Germany. Today they at 83 & 82. My sister and I are at their side and all of us want you to feel “at home” when you are at the club. It is an incredible venue with an amazing dance floor!

So as I mentioned at the start, you are very passionate about dance an dancing, what was your drive?

I am passionate about dancing because I have the incredible support and blessing of my amazing parents. I am blessed to be a world champion trainer & choreographer, a 15-time world championship adjudicator, plus a champion ballroom dancer. I am also passionate about life in general and art most definitely. I was a member of the Selection Advisory Committee of Art Toronto and assisted several non-Canadian and many Canadian visual artists achieve greater attention and notoriety even going so far as winning several Canadian and international public art competitions and commissions. http://www.galerie-lausberg.com/ausstellungen/archiv-toronto/
