NUIT ROSE celebrates its fifth year of LGBTQ Art and Performance during Toronto’s Pride Month, on Saturday June 16, 2018. There’s also a special fundraiser event happening on February 17th if you can’t wait until June.

To date, Nuit Rose has presented 250+ artists and projects from Canada, the US, Mexico, Jamaica, Italy and Spain. Nuit Rose offers a space for new queer voices in the arts, and we would like to hear yours. We are looking for skilled and talented arts workers and community members to make Nuit Rose an even bigger spectacle in 2018.

Attendance at Nuit Rose is FREE and open to all. As always, Nuit Rose attendees can expect transformational encounters with art that shifts perceptions, paradigms, identities, and realities.  With a variety of venues downtown, Nuit Rose spotlights Toronto neighbourhoods as well as 

2018 THEME: UNBOUND

The theme for Nuit Rose 2018 is Unbound. Artists are invited to creatively interpret, explore, and respond to this theme in their proposed projects. Examples could include:

  • Projects that explore ways in which art can challenge existing conventions, norms, classifications, confines, and limitations
  • Projects that celebrate freedom from limiting forces, including physical borders or oppressive systems
  • Projects that show us ways to overcome boundaries and barriers
  • Projects with expansive vision, or that incorporate concepts of infinity or oneness

Call for Submissions

NUIT ROSE is now accepting submissions from artists, performers, writers, curators, cultural organizations, and community businesses interested in presenting work and projects for the fifth edition of the festival, which will take place on SATURDAY, JUNE 16, 2018.

The DEADLINE for submissions is MONDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2018.

 Drag in a Bag Fundraiser – Saturday February 17, 2018

Join Nuit Rose for our annual drag contest fundraiser, Drag in a Bag! This Family Day long weekend, eight fearlessly fierce contestants will take to the stage and show us if they have what it takes to snatch the crown jewels and become belle of the ball. Contestants choose a song to perform, receive a bag with an ensemble inside, then get into hair and makeup. 

Hosted by Allysin Chaynes and Fay Slift, this night is sure to make you laugh. If you’re brave, this might even be your moment to lip-sync for the crown and take the title of Princess Bougie Bejewelled. Featuring a hilariously twisted half-time show by your creepy uncle, Skipper Meds!!
