Now in its third year, AROUND THE WORLD IN 30 DAYS aims to raise funds to publish the  annual 10X10 Photography Project book.

This 10X10 fundraiser and annual event is curated by James Fowler, who’s practice as a visual artist is complimented by his curatorial pursuits and his community involvement with Toronto’s LGBTQ communities. Seeing a need for visual arts programming during Toronto Pride, in 2010 James founded the 10X10 Photography Project, an annual portrait exhibition at the Gladstone Hotel featuring ten of Canada’s talented LGBTQ photographers and celebrating one hundred queer Canadians who have contributed to the arts..

Beginning March 12th, for 30 days, Fowler iis painting one painting per day for a total of 30 paintings. Each painting will be of a city from above using colour palettes inspired by local celebration festivals – think: Summer, travel, and fun.  Each day the finished painting will be posted on the Facebook Event Page and will be $150 CDN on first come-first served basis, however… If there is a city you would like to request, you can fill out the form below and he will do his best to accommodate. If you submit, you will be contacted before the painting is published and you get first dibs!  In addition to getting a painting, all purchasers will have their name printed on the donors page of this year’s edition of 10X10: Volume 8 !

All paintings will be 12in. x12in. on Fluid watercolour paper with a 1 inch white border. Click here for more information or to request a personalized art piece.

The 10X10 Photography Project exhibition takes place at the Gladstone Hotel, June 13 to August 5, 2018.

James has also co-curated Church Street Murals, an eleven building mural project, working with Toronto City Hall to create a legacy project for Toronto World Pride 2014 and he is a founding member of NUIT ROSE, a late night queer-focused art and performance event during Toronto Pride. James is currently working on, Boyhood, a series of painted aerial views of international gay neighbourhoods using the colour palettes of boys’ toys and 1970’s children’s television shows.

As well, he has written about art and technology for Akimbo and has participated in panel discussions and public speaking about social media and the arts. He is a regular consultant for arts organizations on best practices and has written comprehensive social media policy for institutions in Ontario. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film and English from York University and has an early career background in photography and film. He exhibits regularly with Oeno Gallery and has maintained a studio practice since 2007
