Kathy Griffin to begin her “Laugh Your Head Off” tour in Canada May 23, 2018

Due to the supportive response from her Canadian fans, comedian Kathy Griffin has confirmed an additional tour date to the “Laugh Your Head Off” World Tour, and will be kicking-off the North American leg of her tour in Ottawa,  on Wednesday, May 23rd.

Following a successful run overseas including; New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, the U.K., among many others; the prolific comic is ready to come home and tell her truth in the only way she can – fearless and peerless comedy. More motivated than ever, Griffin is ready to deliver the most balls-out and frankly hilarious shows of her stellar career.

Griffin divulges as to what fans can expect. “To all of you in North America who have been sending so much love and support, now’s your chance to show it.  Buy a ticket for one of these tour stops and I promise you won’t be disappointed.  You’re gonna get the whole story. We will talk about THE photo that sparked a conversation around the world, how my mother Maggie still watches Fox News and thinks I might be in ISIS, and hell, I’ll even walk you through my interrogation by the feds.  You’re not gonna get that story anywhere else!  Oh, and did I mention that my next door neighbours during this whole ordeal are none other than Kim Kardashian-West and Kanye Kardashian-West?”

She continues, “My show isn’t for the faint of heart so leave your kids at home. My motto is ‘Funny First’, but don’t worry, we’ve got some serious smack talking to do about everything and everyone, with love, of course. Donald Trump will not survive the live and hilarious indictment I will be bringing down on his orange head.  Did I say head?”

In an exclusive interview with theBUZZ, on starting her “Laugh Your Head Off” tour in Canada, she stated “I wasn’t going to start it anywhere other than Canada, as Canadians can take it.” The first show was originally scheduled to begin in Toronto, however an Ottawa date (May 23) has since been booked earlier, and a Kitchener date after (May 26). Calgary and Vancouver are her other Canadian dates.

She says the show came about as a result of her ordeal surrounding the now infamous picture of her holding a head that resembled Donald Trump. She said the show walks the audience through the whole ordeal, from the interrogation and federal investigation, to the death threats, and for the most part it’s funny. Despite the backlash and heartache, she said “A lot of comedy accidentally happened around this thing.”

“When it first was published by TMZ, I had no idea I would be up against the Trump machine as a coordinated attack,” she recalls. “I remember saying it’s getting so crazy that it’s going to be funny. I soon realized it was a bunch of trolls and robots making it sound worse.” Se also said she’s not exactly a religious person, but she was being attacked by that group as well.

May 30th will be one year since the image was published, and it’s an off night on the tour. When asked what happened to the photographer (Tyler Shields) who took the photo, she spurted out, “He got his own Netflix show. It’s a man’s world baby!” She’s happy to be back as she said before this all happened she rarely went more than two weeks without a show.

Asked whether this incident had any impact on what she may consider off topic or a taboo subject to talk about, she said it actually had the opposite effect. “I kind of have to stand by the photo even though it tunned my life upside down and will continue to haunt me to a degree. However I have a story to tell of the first amendment, and it’s my commodity. You can be outraged over it, but there’s nothing illegal about the photo or what I did,” she explains. “I’m use to controversy, but not to this level. America still hasn’t forgiven me.”

She also felt like she had an obligation to continue on for the sake of younger entertainers out there. “If an old bird like me is taking on the guys, you can as well,” she says. “I don’t want young people to see I crumbled and walked away, or that Hollywood was trying to put me away because of my age. Even now talk shows don’t want me as they consider me too dangerous.”

As for her gay following, she says “Gays are the only community who stuck by me, which is feel is because we share a feeling of being disenfranchised. My gay following has really been organic, going as far back as when I went to my only one prom ever with my gay bestie. I actually started out doing comedy in Los Angeles at an open mic night with a bunch of drag queens. I also remember just days after the image was released, I saw a video of a bunch of drag queens on Fire Island, who were dressed as me and holding a head. They just get it!”

When asked about any uproar outside her shows, she said nothing as yet,, then not shying from controversy she asked me if she paid me could I get some gays to protest outside her Toronto show. “I don’t even think this is legal, but if I gave you $20 can you get some gays to come and protest?” I replied, most likely it would be the drag queens.
