Do you want to donate blood and help save lives? Are you prohibited from donating your blood in Canada because of donor policies imposed by Canadian Blood Services??

Then local Toronto activist Bobby Valen says there’s something you can do about it!

This event is not a rally or protest but a call to action to stand, be counted and write/tweet at Canadian Blood Services asking them to reconsider their dated policies and end the stigma now.

Canadian Blood Services recently announced that they are ‘urgently’ seeking  22 000 blood donors by the Labour Day weekend.

“Let’s see if we can get 22 000 people to say they are attending this event and to contact Canadian Blood Services to tell them you’d love to donate but…”, says Valen.

Over the past decade these shortages have been common and affect millions of Canadians each year. Many people want to help donate and hear the call, but cannot donate to because they are RESTRICTED from doing so simply because of who they are or where they have been.

Some of those restrictions include men/trans/non binary folks who have sex with men who sleep with men (including monogamous relationships), being tattooed in the last three months,, or travelling to specific destinations, just to name a few. Please see the full and very long list of banned donors here.

Please help share this page widely, let your voice be heard. All blood should treated equal, tested and quarantined the same.

Let’s end the stigma now!!  #letusdonate
