OUTtv, Canada’s only and the world’s first LGBTQ+ television network and streaming service announced today a gripping new true crime docu-series coming to the network this fall. The true crime series, which includes Killer in the Village, The Cobra Killers and Surviving the Block will premiere on OUTtv on Saturday, November 7th at 9pm ET/PT and its streaming platform, OUTtvGo from Monday, November 9th.

A five-part podcast series titled Examination in Chief produced by Yap Films and OUTtv has today been released ahead of the TV series and is available to download on iTunesSpotifyGoogle Podcasts and other podcast directories . The series is also available to listen to on the OUTtvGo app. The podcast examines important topics related to crime and the queer community including LGBTQ+ prisoners, the use of dating apps to find victims and the sensationalism of headlines.

The three-part docu-series, produced by yap films in association with OUTtv Network, delves into three of the most notorious LGBTQ+ murders in modern history. Each stand-alone episode will explore the chilling stories that dominated headlines with detailed accounts of the infamous crime, in-depth expert analysis and interviews with those closest to the case.

Killer in the Village is an in-depth look into the murder of men from Toronto’s Gay Village by serial killer Bruce McArthur.

Surviving the Block reveals the epidemic of violence against transgender women of colour through the eyes of Moka Dawkins, one woman who fought back against her attacker and survived… only to find herself on trial for his murder.

The Cobra Killers explores the brutal murder of porn site Cobra Video’s owner, Bryan Kocis. The killing rocked the internet and all eyes focused on the production company’s biggest star, Brent Corrigan. Desperate to prove his innocence, Corrigan works to expose the real killers in this bizarre tale of jealousy, greed and murder in the world of gay porn.

“This is an important series that gives a voice to the victims and their stories by highlighting the extensive, painful human cost of these crimes as well examining how the criminal justice system handles violence against the LGBTQ+ community,’ said Brad Danks, CEO of OUTtv Media Network. “We’re also excited to launch OUTtv’s first original podcast, Examination in Chief, hosted by Justice Harvey Brownstone. The podcast explores the complex relationship between the community, the justice system and the media – a must listen for true crime buffs.”

“Telling the stories of the LGBTQ+ community is very important to us at yap films,” says Executive Producer Elizabeth Trojian. “We’re so proud to create a fresh perspective on the true crime genre. We hope that viewers are captivated and informed by these compelling and important stories.”

The series premiers with Surviving the Block on Saturday, November 7th at 9pm ET/PT followed by Cobra Killers on Saturday, November 14th at 9pm ET/PT and Killer in the Village on Saturday, November 21st at 9pm ET/PT.
