Dan Savage (creator of the ​Savage Love​ sex advice column, the popular Savage Lovecast ​podcast, the ​ITMFA​ campaign, and the ​It Gets Better Project​) is curating a brand new online showing of dirty short films for the 16th annual ​HUMP! Film Festival​, screening online January 30 through March 6, 2021.

The ​HUMP Film Festival​ features a showcase of sex-positive short films, all curated by Savage.These dirty movies are created by people who aren’t porn stars, but want to be one just for this festival. The films run the gamut of body sizes, shapes, ages, colours, sexualities, genders, kinks,and fetishes. It is a unique celebration of creative sexual expression.

HUMP! has become a national phenomenon selling tens of thousands of tickets, screening in over 50 cities across the United States and Canada. “Last year, when COVID hit the US and Canada, we took the festival online, with permission of the filmmakers,” says Savage. “As much as we missed being in theatres, we loved being able to make HUMP accessible to more people.”

This year, HUMP! will also have several optional viewing parties. From a screening with Dan Savage himself, to an all-nude screening with other enthusiasts, these accompanying viewing parties will give HUMP! viewers the shared experience that makes the festival so unique.

Is Dan worried about filmmaker privacy now that the show is online? “​One of the great things about HUMP! is our audience,” says Savage. “From the very first HUMP! showing 16 years ago,we’ve deputized them to look out for folks on their cell phones taking pictures of the screen. Or folks being disrespectful jerks. And we kick this bad behavior out of the theatre. Now that we’re online, we will still ask our audiences for the same respect. No recording, no screenshots, no rude comments online, or on social media. Our community can get porn anywhere they want online. But they can’t get the diversity, the humor, the risk-taking, and the all-out fun that they get at HUMP! We can’t wait to be back touring the country in physical theaters, but until then,we’re encouraging folks to use this time in lockdown to explore their sexuality and make some dirty movies.”
