6:45 – Time-Looping Psychological Thriller – Vacation, Die, and Repeat

6:45 asks, what if one of the best days of your life suddenly turned into one of your worst nightmares? And what if you were forced to relive that same day again and again? From Director Craig Singer (Dark Ride, Perkins 14, Animal Room) comes a pulse-pounding, time-looping psychological thriller about a dream vacation gone very, very bad.

Bobby Patterson (Michael Reed) is taking one last romantic shot at saving his rocky relationship with his girlfriend, Jules Rables (Augie Duke) on a weekend getaway to the picturesque island resort of Bog Grove. To their bewilderment, the sleepy beach town is curiously deserted, but they soon learn about its notorious and bloody history – one that’s about to repeat itself again and again.

The pair’s relationship issues are quickly cast aside in order to overcome a demented cycle of terror in which they’re seemingly trapped. And no matter what great lengths they take to avoid it, Bobby and Jules awake at 6:45 each morning to a nightmarish chain of events with no escape.

SNAPSHOT REVIEW 

After Day 2, the film had me asking, why not just turn off the alarm, unplug it, or toss it out the window? This type of looping “Groundhog Day” type movie has been done many times, and much better. After Day 3, it had me asking how many more times is this same scene going to repeat itself. To say the least, it was getting very repetitive, pun intended.

Basically, disgruntled, cheating, hot-tempered boyfriend Bobby is making a last ditch effort to maintain a relationship with his current girlfriend, that he’s already cheated on. The pair go on vacation to an island that’s deserted, supposedly as the weekend the couple is there is the anniversary date of a grisly murder. Bobby is awaken every morning at 6:45 by the above mentioned alarm clock in their hotel room, and begins the day as usual, which always seems to end with his girlfriend Jules getting her throat slashed, and Bobby getting his neck snapped. The thing is only he witnesses this, and Jules sees nothing, other than his strange ways of acting out in anger. Needless to say, the rendezvous doesn’t go over well, and in the end either does the movie.

It comes across as low budget with B-movie like acting by all, including the leads. There’s just nothing intriguing about this film that makes you want to watch it until the end. However, if you do make it to the end, it’s exactly like the rest of the story line, uneventful.
