The Gig follows the story of three drag queens who are hired to perform at a private function,the catch? It just happens to be a campaign fundraiser for a rookie Conservative politician. Politics, sibling rivalry, and wigs are just some of the ingredients that make this gig unforgettable!

This contemporary comedy asks: what do we do when we don’t see eye-to-eye? The Gig offers a fresh perspective on acceptance, all while delivering a hilarious and heartwarming message and thought-provoking conversations.

Presented by Theatre Aquarius, written by Mark Crawford and directed by Morris Panych.

Playwright Mark Crawford is the writer of such hit comedies as Stag and Doe, Bed and Breakfast, The Birds and The Bees and Chase The Ace. His play The New Canadian Curling Club, broke box office records at Alberta Theatre Projects in 2019. Crawford is also currently starring in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child with Mirvish Productions.

Director Morris Panych is a celebrated artist with an impressive career spanning over three decades. He is the winner of 14 Jessie Richardson Awards,five Dora Awards and two Governor General Literary Awards for Drama.

The Gig’s world premiere runs exclusively from March 8 through 25 in Theatre Aquarius’s Irving Zucker Auditorium. Opening Night is Friday, March 10. Performances are Tuesdays –Saturdays 7:30pm, with weekend matinees at 1:30pm.
