Well, another Pride season is upon us, and even amid uncertain and challenging times in the world, we’re still standing. Still creating. Still loving. Still fighting. Still celebrating who we are. So, keep being glorious. Keep being you. Keep standing up for the community—and humanity … after all, that’s what love is about.
In our first feature, Menaka Skrypnyk caught up with dance floor icon, musician Kristine W. Her latest work reminds us that pride is a rhythm we never stop dancing to… and never will. In our second feature, Bryen Dunn highlights a pop-culture icon who embodies both muse and artist, Amanda Lepore. How exciting that she will be hosting Toronto’s Green Space Festival on June 25th—likely in heels higher than our standards.
In Deep Dish, Rolyn Chambers dives into “Pride at a Crossroads: Protest, Power, and Paradox,” unpacking the complexities of where our movement stands. In Wigged Out, we honour the legendary activist and queen, Sylvia Rivera. She Beat features the soulful Charlotte Day Wilson, a voice that reflects queer resilience. In Kodak Moment, Boyd Kodak spoke with advocate and community champion, Sherry Sylvain. And in Beyond the Village, we travel to Halifax’s Bus Stop Theatre, a creative hub for queer and marginalized voices.
As always, don’t miss our BUZZpicks—your summer social calendar’s best friend!
