HERDD was born in Montreal, raised in London (UK), and is currently living in Ontario, an artist with a truly unique lens. Ever since his debut release in 2019, HERDD has been serving up eclectic electro-pop vibes that Billboard lovingly likened to ‘early Gaga with shades of Daft Punk’.

What are you most excited about performing at Q Musicale?

The most exciting thing about playing at Q Musicale is that it’s my first time performing at a Pride Month event! I’ve been dreaming of playing a Pride related show for a really long time and it feels amazing that it’s finally lined up!

What can attendees expect from your performance?

At its core, HERDD is all about vulnerability and openness. I’m looking forward to telling the story of how I’m learning to love myself for who I am through my music and my words. Oh and be ready to have a little dance!

Who has been an inspiration to your creativity, either musically or personally?

I’ve taken such broad inspiration musically that it’s hard to pin down a specific genre, let alone a specific person. But I do have to say that when I saw CeCe Peniston will be at Pride Toronto this year I just about burst into tears. ‘Finally’ may have come out when I was a baby, but that song was the soundtrack to my coming out in my late teens. What’s one thing people might not know about you?

There were two things I’ve loved since I was young, music and video games. I’ve met some absolutely incredible people playing games and even recently joined a 2SLGBTQIA+ clan in one of the games I’m playing. Music comes first, but in my downtime? Guess you can call me a ‘gaymer’.

Are you currently working on any new or upcoming projects?

I just released my debut album ‘Afterlife’ which documents my struggles and successes with my mental health on a ten year hiatus from music. Having just showcased at Canadian Music Week, this year is all about getting the album out there and telling the story of the project. I would be lying though if I didn’t admit that I have a lot of music in the works too – I’m just not supposed to talk about it yet! So let’s just pretend I didn’t say that.
