Griffin Nafly (Everett Blunck) is the most ambitious playwright of his generation. He’s also fourteen years old and living with his parents in a humdrum suburb while dreaming of moving to New York City. When his mom (Melanie Lynskey) hires a handsome 25-year-old handyman (Owen Teague), Griffin’s life and his new play take an inspired turn. Also starring Kathryn Newton and Abby Ryder Fortson.

SNAPSHOT REVIEW

By far this is one of the best films to be released this year. Not only is it an amazing story, but the acting by all characters comes so natural that you feel you’re living alongside them. Each and everyone of them could be reminiscent of someone you know.

Everett Blunck shines brightest with his quirkiness, innocence, and determination. Gathering a cast of other misfits from his school to be involved in his play, you’re immediately drawn into each and everyone of them. While Blunck may lead the way, by no means do any of the other actors take a secondary seat. Each contributes immensely in their respective roles, including pool boy/handyman/stoner Brad (Owen Teague), as  well as Griffin’s well intentioned, overworked, and patient mother (Melanie Lynskey). Owen’s girlfriend Chloe (Kathryn Newton) also provides top notch comic relief in her role.

This is a queer film in the “odd” meaning of the word, making it extremely weird and wonderful!
