A Night Like This – two estranged strangers meet and spend the night roaming and divulging their stories about the complications of life, love, and loneliness
A Night Like This is a great story about complicated lives, love, and loneliness. It’s reflective of much of today’s society who have succumbed to living their social life virtually on social media, rather than through in-person interactions.
Two seemingly mismatched men, one gay/one straight, form an unexpected connection over the course of one cold London night. Struggling actor Lukas (Jack Brett Anderson) and wealthy entrepreneur Oliver (Alexander Lincoln) couldn’t be more different, with Lukas’ quiet demeanour a stark contrast to Oliver’s bravado.
Lukas is a disillusioned out of work actor in his 30s who has achieved nothing. Oliver is a nightclub owner on the brink of bankruptcy. Both out alone at a pub drowning their respective sorrows, when Oliver persuades Lukas to spend the night out with him. What follows is a revelatory evening of bar hopping, deep discussions, and uncomfortable truths, as the two men not only get to know each other, and also come to a better understanding of themselves in the process.
This ephemeral romance believes hope can be found in the most unexpected places. A Night Like This is available from Verve Pictures. In theatres September 2025.
Starring Alexander Lincoln (In From The Side, Emmerdale, The Groomsmen, Everything I Know About Love), and Jack Brett Anderson (The Great, Genius: Picasso, Domina, Wolfblood). The film marks writer and producer, Diego Scerrati’s debut feature. This is also Liam Calvert’s directorial debut.
