Who enjoys cycling? Who enjoys art? Who enjoys cycling to see art? Well this event is for you then!

Art Spin is a roving curatorial project that situates commissioned, site-specific works in unique public spaces throughout the city. Each Art Spin tour gathers a large audience on bicycles to visit the multidisciplinary installations and performances in a one-of-a-kind event. With few details released beforehand, Art Spin tours ask you to trust the curators and allow yourselves to be surprised by both the creative programming and the unusual spaces to which they lead you.

The first Art Spin of 2017 takes place June 15th. Participants meet at the north High Park Entrance (1873 Bloor St. – just south of the main gates) at 6:30pm to check-in and get your wristband. The tour leaves at 7pm sharp and lasts until around 9:30pm at which point there’s a great dance after party event happening at the legion by the lake.

This tour features the premiere of three new site-specific projects commissioned by Art Spin. Each project, ranging from dance to video, has been created specifically for our audience and located along a unique site at the waterfront. We’re excited to be working with Jenn Goodwin and Thom Sokoloski to present special projects by each artist respectively, along with a co-presentation with Myseum of Toronto that has three artists collaborating for the very first time, Driftnote, Francesca Chudnoff, and Aria Evans in response to the rising waters of Lake Ontario.

AFTER PARTY:
Want to skip all the art programming and just wear out your dancing shoes? The after party is free and you are welcome to meet us there! Join us after 10pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 344 (1395 Lakeshore Blvd. West) for drinks, dancing, and an amazing view of the water from their spectacular lakeside patio. Music will be provided by our partners CDR and DJ General Eclectic.

RAIN DATE:
For the safety and enjoyment of our audience, Art Spin is a fairweather event. The official rain date for the June 15th tour is Thursday June 22nd. Ticket holders will be notified day-of in case of any rescheduling due to weather.

TICKETING – CHANGES THIS YEAR:
To streamline the event, there will be online ticket sales only. This will help reduce wait times at the start of each event. If an online purchase is a barrier to you joining please contact us at info@artspin.ca. As well, ticket prices have risen to $10 this year to properly compensate the artists. Looking for savings? Buy a season pass and get all three Art Spin Tours for the price of two!
