Pigeon! It is finally coming! The Inspire Awards are making their way to social media live stream, and it’s free to watch. What could be better then free?

Streaming live through Rogers Community TV and via Facebook on May 14, 2021 at 7pm. You can see some inspirational folks from the GTA who support our wonderful diverse community. There are no other awards show like this for the 2LGBTQ+ community. It is worth checking out.

I had chance to speak with Antoine Elhashem and Karie Johnston from the Board of Directors Inspire Awards who gave us all the tea. The awards have been going for over ten years now. You could see the excitement in their faces while Zoom talking about the awards.

k.d. lang is the recipient of the International Icon award, which is utterly amazing as she has been very inspirational for our community for a long time especially when it comes to being your true authentic self.

Taken from the website of the Inspire Awards:

“k.d. lang has won four GRAMMY awards, eight June Awards, a BROT, an AMA, a VMA, and four awards from GLAAD. In 1996, she received Canada’s highest civilian honour, the Order of Canada. In 2013, she was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the Juno Awards, and last year, received the Alberta Order of Excellence Award.”

Pigeon, there is not much to do these days, so here is my advice. Get your best outfit, or your favourite pjs, get an awesome drink, or wine like me, and then tune in and make yourself a watch party to share with friends and family. What else are you going to do?

Stay tuned for a few more interviews from some folks who are participating in the event.

Stay Safe Pigeon!
