Blue Mountain Village Association‘s (BMVA) fifth annual Rainbow Ski Weekend is back again taking place on the grounds of Blue Mountain Resort. It’s Ontario’s only gay ski weekend, and there’s plenty to do both on and off the slopes, whether you ski, play, and slay (sleigh?), there are numerous fun events taking place throughout the weekend. Get ready to strut your stuff and slay the slopes, March 24 to 26, 2023.

Drag Queens, Drag Kings, Performers, and Artists alike will gather to celebrate Pride-filled celebrations from the Village to the Mountaintop. There are also many new events that have been added to the calendar for the first time ever, including dirty bingo, bar trivia, and our first-ever Rainbow Royalty Ball!

It all starts with the flag raising Friday afternoon, where local politicians, business leaders, community groups, and members of the LGBTQ community gather to officially launch the festival. Pack your ski gear and dancing shoes because you won’t want to miss out on three days of parties, variety shows, brunches, and ski events on 43 trails of exciting mountain terrain!

Mountain to Village Parade

Meet at the top of Smart Alec to participate in this years’ Mountain to Village parade! Grab a flag and join fellow skiers and snowboarders as you race each other down the mountain, fully clad in the most rainbow gear you can carry. Slide into the Village afterwards to make the Flag Raising Ceremony at 4pm at the top of Water Street.

Rainbow Trivia

Celebrate Pride Month with this 2SLGBTQIA+ history and pop culture trivia night! Hosted by Katinka Kature, make your way to Jozo’s Bar (located in the Blue Mountain Inn), to quiz your knowledge of all things pop culture, musicals, divas, change makers, and of course Drag Race and kick off an amazing Rainbow Ski Weekend.

Rainbow Ski Weekend Kick-off Party

Start off Rainbow Ski weekend at Kaytoo! We’ll be hosting the legendary Carlotta Carlisle, Devine Darlin and our very own Queen, Istealya Heart. Groove Dancing

Whether you’re 8, 18, or 80, anyone can dance! Join professional hype man and Blue Mountain icon, Tyler Boyle, and Enya Dreams as they lead the crowd through Groove Dancing in the Village Events Plaza. Joined by some of the most talented drag performers in Ontario, discover freedom of expression through the inclusive art of dance.

Family-Friendly King & Queen Show

You’re invite to the Royal Court. The Monarchy has landed in Blue Mountain with 10 of Toronto’s top Kings and Queens. Starting at 3:30pm, watch as our Queens and Kings dazzle the crowd in the heart of the Blue Mountain Village. This is a family friendly show that encourages you to channel your inner Queen or King and dance and sing-a-long with our entertainers. Starring Enya Dreams, Christopher Cummings, Heaven Lee Hytes, Manny Dingo, Devine Darlin, Helena Poison, Tyler Uptight, Katinka Kature, Baby Bel Bel and Jada Shada Hudson from Canada’s Drag Race.

Rainbow Royalty Ball 

Hosted by fan favourites Carlotta Carlisle and Katinka Kature, at Mother Tongue Asian Bistro, this is a night you won’t want to miss. Celebrity judges include Canada’s Drag Race, Jada Shada Hudson, alongside her bestie and longest reigning Miss Crews & Tangos, Baby Bel Bel and Digital Fashion Creator of the Year (CAFA), Myles Sexton. Get your seat for the hottest show in town. (Ticket price includes one drink ticket. 19+ event).

4-Category Pageant

Drag Queens, Kings, and Performers alike are being asked to pull out all the tricks, stunts and lewks in 4 different categories to snatch the title of Rainbow Royalty. Contestants will compete in an Eleganza Extravaganza, Apres Realness, Werk It! Talent Show, and Lipsync For Your Life! The winner will be the FIRST crowned Rainbow Royalty, earning a $1000 cash prize and $1000 from WigZaddy.

Is it really a Pride celebration without a Drag Brunch? Starring Jada Shada Hudson, from Season 3 of Canada’s Drag Race, and local favourites Katinka Kature, Carlotta Carlisle and Baby Bel Bel will be joined by powerhouse performer Manny Dingo, Mama Shady Devine Darlin and the winner of the Rainbow Royalty Ball to end the Rainbow weekend with the ultimate Drag Brunch. Whether you prefer “he”, “she”, or “they”, our Rainbow Selfie Scavenger Hunt is fun for everyone to play! You can work in teams or go alone. Pick up the Scavenger Hunt at the Welcome Centre and take selfies for each task on your phone. When you’re done, back to the Welcome Centre you will go, hand in your paper to WIN something rainbow.
