The Miracle Club is set in 1967 in Dublin’s rough-lorn community of Ballygar, and follows a group of close friends, Lily (Maggie Smith), Eileen (Kathy Bates), and Dolly (Agnes O’Casey), who come to the ultimate realization that it takes more than time to heal old wounds.

In desperate need of miracles, the group puts on a spectacular performance for their small town in order to win a pilgrimage to the holy Lourdes, France. Chrissie (Laura Linney), an old friend of the group who has been exiled in the United States for the past 40 years, arrives for her mother’s funeral just before they set out on their adventure. Her presence reopens old wounds and heartbreaks, forcing everyone to relive their past in order to move forward.

The women set out on the journey that they hope will change their lives, with Chrissie, a skeptical traveller, joining in place of her mother. Along the way, old wounds are reopened, forcing the women to confront their pasts in order to move forward, even as they travel in search of a miracle.
