Since making her major label debut in 2021, Rêve has carved out a unique space at the intersection of pop, dance, and profound lyricism. Today, with over 175M+ global streams on breakout hits such as chart-topping tracks “CTRL + ALT + DEL”, “Big Boom”, “Contemporary Love” and US Dance Radio #1 “Whitney”, her passion and understanding for club culture shine through in everything she touches. Rêve won the 2023 Juno Award for Dance Recording of the Year and a 2024 nomination for Pop Album of the Year. She has music sync placements across RuPaul’s Drag Race, Just Dance 24, FIFA 23, and the theme song for Canada Shore series. Rêve has appeared alongside Black Eyed Peas, Cyndi Lauper, Trixie Mattel, and Pitbull. Her upcoming sophomore album, Delusions of Grandeur, offers a shimmering portal into a world of freedom, undone glamour, and radical self-acceptance. Drawing from her heritage, queer identity, and a love for Montreal’s nightlife, Rêve imagines the dance floor as a sanctuary—a place where joy is a form of resistance and vulnerability is a superpower.

theBUZZ had an opportunity to connect with Rêve before her performance here in Toronto on June 12, 2026 at The National, located within The Well, as part of BMO’s monthly FriGays events.

You’re working on a new track written specifically for drag queens to dance to. Can you tell me a bit about this song and the importance behind showing your continued support to the queer community?

I am! I wrote Devour at the tail end of a very challenging chapter in my life, and the song helped out of it in many ways. There were a lot of people in my professional orbit at the time doubting the vision for my next project, and the weight of so many conflicting opinions had me second guessing myself to the point where I felt completely deflated. At some point I realized that the best way to pull myself out of that funk was to immerse myself in environments that inspire me. In my opinion, drag is one of the most powerful art forms there is because it’s so limitless, expressive and fearless. I spent a lot of time going to watch my friends in the community perform, and seeing them dance in their power and truth every night is what inspired Devour.  As artists, I think it’s  important that we credit our muses, and I don’t think we do it loudly or often enough. I really want every drag performer reading this to know that without them Devour wouldn’t exist, and to know the amount of joy and inspiration they bring to my life.

How important is it for you to connect with your fans, and specifically the queer community, and by what platforms should they be watching out for your updates?

It may sound super cliché, but without connection to my community and fans, I am rudderless. They are my creative life source and compass. I’ve always thought that songwriting starts off as a selfish exercise, but what alchemizes it into something truly powerful is sharing it with others. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing people find their own meaning in the songs, and knowing that the music can hopefully hold them through their joy, heartache, and challenges in the same way their energy and love have carried me through my own. Fans can keep up with all of the updates on IG, Tiktok and X, @revemtl!

You have a couple intimate shows coming up in Montreal and Toronto, two cities that are very important to you for different reasons. Can you tell me what fans can expect at these FriGays with BMO collaborations that maybe different than your other performances?

I am so excited for FriGays with BMO! It’s truly one of my favorite parties of all time (yes they are paying me, but not to say that). I have to credit my good friend Alex Dooley, the founder of FriGays, for being one of the most thoughtful event curators there is on so many levels. With Alex at the nucleus, and the amount of love, respect and attention to detail he puts into every event, the crowd at FriGays really reflects that. It’s unfortunate to say but people nowadays don’t dance as much as they used to, but you’d never know it at FriGays. It’s definitely more of an intimate performance venue than a festival or theatre, but I think that’s part of what makes it so special. In settings like this, it’s a lot easier to connect with the people in the room and have their energy fuel your performance. When you’re riding the same wave as your audience, the most fun shows happen.

These shows are to bring awareness to BMO’s continuing support of the queer community via their Rainbow Depositsinitiative, which directly supports the Rainbow Railroadprogram. Tell me how your collaboration with this came to be, and how important it is for you to be a part of raising awareness for both programs?

This opportunity came about through Alex Dooley and Andrew Rusk, and I’m incredibly grateful to both of them for including me. It goes without saying that no one should ever have to face discrimination or violence simply for being who they are. Rainbow Railroad does life changing work helping 2SLGBTQIA+ people who are in danger access safety and support, and as a Canadian organization, it’s something I’m especially proud to amplify as best as I can. Change starts within our own community and we all have a responsibility to use whatever resources we have to help protect and support each other, whether that’s through conversations, donations, advocacy, or in my case, through music and the platform I’ve been fortunate enough to build. Being able to raise awareness for this work in an environment like FriGays that celebrates and advocates for equality, love, and safety feels very meaningful to me.

What’s next for Rêve in terms of music, shows, and any other projects on the horizon?

I’m spending the summer playing shows in the festival circuit and putting the final touches on my sophomore album, Delusions of Grandeur, which I’m planning to release next year. It’s the project I’ve poured the most of myself into so far, and I’m really excited for people to step into its world. In the meantime, if you’d like to come dance with me this summer, you can find all of the dates on Bandsintown or through the link in my social profiles!
